Wrigley is located at the east bank of the Mackenzie River below its junction with the Wrigley River at 63'14'N latitude and 123'28'W longitude and is 193 air km north of Fort Simpson. The Slavey Dene moved to Fort Wrigley after 1905 however the people continued their nomadic lifestyle. In the late 1950s a power plant, school teachers' residence were built and the population grew to 128 by 1960. Five years later the settlement moved to the current site where access was much easier due to a well-maintained airstrip had been constructed by the U.S. military. The Hudson Bay Company store, school, teachers' residence and warehouse were barged to the new site joining 15 new houses built that year. Today a traditional lifestyle is still the norm and local businesses provide for the needs of local residents. Wrigley's population is 167 (1996 Census).
